After merging with Princess Anne County, in 1963, the 2 mile city became a vast 255 square mile city. Virginia Beach is the largest city in the state of Virginia, spanning from the Chesapeake Bay to the border of North Carolina. Also known as part of the Hampton Roads Area, Virginia Beach is divided into seven boroughs: Bayside, Blackwater, Kempsville, Lynnhaven, Princess Anne, Pungo, and Virginia Beach.
